Two-Month-Old Baby Dies After Being Fed Milk by Mother in Surat

Surat: A heartbreaking incident in Surat has once again raised awareness among parents about the care needed for infants. A two-month-old baby girl tragically passed away after being fed milk by her mother late at night. According to reports, the mother fell asleep after feeding the baby, only to wake up the next morning and find her daughter lifeless.
The infant, identified as Shivanshi, was the only child of Sanjeet Paswan and his wife, originally from Bihar and currently residing near Hozivala Industries in Sachin, Surat. The grieving parents rushed her to the New Civil Hospital, where doctors declared the child dead on arrival. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the family, the baby had woken up in the middle of the night and was breastfed by her mother. After feeding, Shivanshi remained awake and was playing, while the mother, exhausted, fell asleep. It’s believed the baby also eventually dozed off, but did not wake up again.
The father, Sanjeet, said the child was born just a month and 20 days ago, and Shivanshi was their firstborn. The mother was inconsolable upon discovering her baby wasn’t moving in the morning.
Doctors have noted that in some cases, if milk enters a baby’s windpipe instead of the food pipe, it can lead to choking and death, especially if unnoticed during sleep. They emphasized the importance of being cautious while feeding infants and ensuring they are kept upright and monitored afterward.
The tragic loss of their only daughter has cast a shadow of grief over the family, who are now awaiting the post-mortem results for clarity on what caused the infant’s sudden death.
