Two From Orissa Caught With Ganja Worth Rs 1.73 Lakh In Ahmedabad
Two Accused Arrested, One On The Run

The state is witnessing rising number of drug smuggling cases. Drugs and other narcotic substances are smuggled from one state to another via trains or by road. One such incident has surfaced, wherein two men have been caught with ganja worth Rs 1.73 lakh. Both of them have been arrested, whereas another accused is absconding.
Apparently, the men were caught at the Kankariya Yard from a train. Three men were involved in the smuggling of the cannabis. Out of which, 2 have been arrested and 1 is absconding. Kalupur Police have registered a case against the accused, who hail from Orissa.
Kalupur Railway Police Head Constable Hardikbhai filed a complaint against the accused. He said that yesterday (June 14) they were patrolling in the Kankariya Yard area, when the Puri-Ahmedabad train arrived at the station. The train halted there as it did not receive a signal. At that time, 2 passengers got down from the train; they had a collegian bag with them. They appeared suspicious; upon searching the bag, the police found 17.350 kg of cannabis worth Rs 1,73,500.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that an unknown person was going to collect the drugs from them between Nadiad and Ahmedabad. For their work, both the accused were going to receive Rs 3,000 each. Kalupur Railway Police has registered a case against the 3 accused hailing from Orissa. Two of the accused have been arrested, whereas one is on the run. Investigations to nab the absconding accused are underway.
