Three Young Children Drown in Village Lake Tragedy in Rajkot

Rajkot: In a heartbreaking incident early this morning, three young children drowned in a lake in Padariya village, located in Jamkandorna taluka of Rajkot district. The tragedy occurred when the children, aged between 6 and 8, entered the water for a swim and never returned.
The victims have been identified as Bhavesh Dangi (6), Hitesh Dangi (8), and Nitesh Mavi (7). Bhavesh and Hitesh were siblings, while Nitesh was a friend from the same village. All three belonged to families of agricultural laborers working in the surrounding farms. According to local reports, the children went to the lake unsupervised in the early hours of the day. Tragically, they drowned soon after entering the water. Villagers rushed to the scene as the news spread, and local swimmers, along with the village head (sarpanch), managed to recover the bodies.
Authorities, including police and the local mamlatdar, arrived at the site and initiated further procedures. The bodies were taken to Jamkandorna Civil Hospital for postmortem examinations. Families are expected to receive the bodies following the completion of the autopsies.
The police have registered the case as an accidental drowning. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by water bodies during the monsoon season and the risks of allowing young children to play near them without supervision. A pall of grief has descended over the village as the community mourns the loss of three innocent lives.
