A three-storey dilapidated building collapsed in Ghanchi ni Pol, Manek Chowk. The fire department team, the AMC team, and the police rushed to the spot on receiving information about the incident.
A woman who got buried under the rubble was successfully rescued. The 50-year-old woman has been sent to the hospital for treatment as she got injured. Investigations are going on to check whether more people are buried or not.
According to sources, the old and unsound building had collapsed, the reasons of which are still unknown.
This incident which occurred in the crowded and congested area of Manekchowk, has stirred panic among the locals as they fear if their buildings and houses will be affected by the collapse.
Investigation is also being conducted from the angle speculating whether any dangerous work or construction was being conducted near the now-collapsed building.
