Three Madrasa Teachers Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Minor Students In Himmatnagar
Himmatnagar: In a shocking incident from Prantij town in Sabarkantha district, three teachers from Jamia Darul Ehsan Waqf Madrasa have been arrested for allegedly physically abusing minor students and confining them within the madrasa premises. The matter came to light after eight students managed to escape and alert authorities.
According to police, the boys fled the madrasa early Monday morning by unlocking the premises and boarding a train from Prantij. Initially headed toward Ahmedabad, they changed course and boarded a Udaipur-bound train. However, the accused tracked them to Himmatnagar station and attempted to forcibly take them back.
In panic, the children began screaming for help, prompting Railway Police personnel to intervene. The boys were taken to a waiting area and later handed over to Prantij police for further inquiry. During the investigation, the children revealed they were regularly beaten with sticks, wires, and plastic pipes by the madrasa teachers for minor mistakes or playful behavior. They were not allowed to leave the premises, which remained locked at all times. One student claimed he was punched in the stomach and beaten when he requested to go outside.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Maulvi Mufti Yousuf, Maulvi Mohammad Anas Memon, and Maulvi Mohammad Fahad. They face charges of assault, wrongful confinement, and violations under the Juvenile Justice Act. Medical reports have revealed injuries, including on private parts, raising the possibility of charges under the POCSO Act.
Of the eight children, six have been sent to the Himmatnagar Children’s Home. One boy is undergoing treatment at Himmatnagar Civil Hospital, accompanied by another student from his village. All the children are originally from Bihar and were brought to the madrasa on April 13. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured strict legal action based on the medical findings and statements from the victims.
