Three Dead, One Injured In Fatal ST Bus And Rickshaw Crash Near Himmatnagar

Himmatnagar: A devastating road accident unfolded on Sunday afternoon near Rajpur Patiya in Himmatnagar when a speeding rickshaw collided with a state transport (ST) bus on a diversion route. The impact claimed two lives on the spot, the rickshaw driver and a female passenger, while two other women sustained critical injuries. One of the injured women later died during treatment at the Himmatnagar Civil Hospital.

Emergency services, including police and fire brigade units, arrived swiftly at the scene. Firefighters had to cut through the wreckage of the rickshaw to extract the bodies, underscoring the severity of the collision. The accident brought traffic to a standstill on the busy route as authorities worked to clear the scene and begin a formal investigation.

Zuber Momin, the conductor aboard the ST bus, recounted the moments leading up to the crash. According to him, the bus departed Himmatnagar at 2:45 PM and approached a temporary diversion near Rajpur. While navigating the altered route, the driver spotted a rickshaw approaching at high speed from the opposite direction. In a split-second decision to avoid a head-on collision, the bus driver veered onto the divider. Despite the maneuver, the rickshaw driver failed to brake in time, leading to a violent impact.

Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the accident to determine further accountability and ensure road safety measures are reinforced in the area.
