Another shocking case of hit and run has surfaced in Surat, where a tempo driver crushed the child of a woman working in a paper mill in front of her eyes, and fled from there. Police have started investigating the matter.
On Thursday, a tempo driver ran over a two-year-old boy and fled. The woman, who works at a paper mill at Surat GIDC near road number 13, had put her child to sleep at a proper place and was working.
The tempo driver, who was of the mill itself, came, crushed the child, and fled from the spot. By the time the child’s mother came running and shouting at the driver, he had already fled. The child was taken immediately to the hospital; however, he died before reaching there.
Sachin GIDC police have registered a case of accident and are conducting further investigations. They are currently searching for the tempo driver. Meanwhile, the child’s body has been sent for post mortem.
The family of the deceased child is inconsolable and is demanding the strictest action against the tempo driver.
