Surat Teacher’s Tragic Death with Sons Linked to Wife’s Alleged Affair: Police Investigation Reveals Motive

In a distressing development from Surat, police have uncovered the motive behind the suspected suicide of a schoolteacher and his two young sons in the Umra area’s district panchayat quarters. Investigators revealed that the teacher, Alpeshbhai Kantibhai Solanki, allegedly ended his life after becoming overwhelmed by his wife’s extramarital relationships.

Authorities disclosed that a suicide note and mobile phone conversations found at the scene were critical in piecing together the events leading to the incident. Solanki, who had been married for a decade, had reportedly been facing growing turmoil in his domestic life.

According to police reports, Solanki allegedly mixed rat poison into a soft drink and gave it to his two sons 2-year-old Karnish and 8-year-old Krishiv before consuming it himself. He was later found hanging in the residence. The tragic event has left the local community in shock.

Surat police are currently interrogating Solanki’s wife and other individuals associated with the case to gather further details.

The tragedy unfolded on Thursday evening when neighbors, concerned by the family’s silence, broke into the residence and discovered the lifeless bodies. Solanki was employed as a teacher at Merimata School in Dindol and originally hailed from Chithoda village in Vijaynagar taluka, Sabarkantha district. The family had been residing in Surat.

A man named Magan, a farmer from Dobh village in Haryana’s Rohtak, died by suicide on June 18, 2025, by hanging himself from a tree. Before his death, he posted a four-minute video on social media, blaming his wife, Divya, and her boyfriend, a Maharashtra Police officer, for harassing him for money. Magan alleged they pressured him to kill his father and sell ancestral land to fund their plans in Mumbai. He also revealed that Divya concealed her prior marriage and a son from that marriage, which caused him significant distress. Despite paying her money to settle matters with her first husband and mortgaging gold jewellery to meet further demands, the harassment continued. Magan requested that his son’s custody be given to his parents and urged the Rohtak Police to punish Divya and her boyfriend, holding them responsible for driving him to suicide. The police have registered a case, conducted a post-mortem, and are investigating, but Divya remains untraced.
