Surat Start-Up Turns Rainwater Into Purified, Drinkable Water; 1000 People Enjoy Benefits Daily

People of Surat are enjoying the benefits of purified drinkable rainwater, thanks to the start-up of Rahul Kacha. In the venture, Kacha stores rainwater collected in a specific ‘nakshatra’, purifies it, and then delivers it to people. About 1000 people get the benefit of this purified rainwater every day.

Kacha is engaged in this start-up since 4 years. In 2021, he questioned the seeping of the rainwater into the ground, without being used anywhere. This thought led him to store and purify rainwater at his home. He stores rainwater specifically in the Magha, Ardra, and Pushya nakshatras. This activity progressed on a large scale, and eventually became a start-up.

This venture has inspired about 10,000 people to store and purify rainwater. Rahul Kacha regularly supplies purified rainwater in around 200 houses. He also helps people to install their own water purifiers at home.

Kacha has built 2 sheds at different places to store water. The sheds are cleaned before the onset of the rains, and they further get cleaned during the rains. After which, the rainwater that falls into these sheds gets directly stored into tanks. The tanks get filled gradually. This water is purified and supplied to people. Kacha has a tank costing Rs 2 lakh, and another one of Rs 1 lakh. Approximately Rs 35 lakh was spent on the entire project.

This purified rainwater has several benefits. It reduces acidity and cough issues. It is also effective in constipation, kidney related problems, and joint pain. Moreover, it also reduces the risk of diabetes, blood pressure, and cancer. Purified rainwater is good for our health.
