Surat Model’s Mercedes Set On Fire: Police Arrests Her Ex-Boyfriend In Case Of Arson And Cyber Harassment

Surat: A Mercedes car owned by a model from Surat was deliberately set on fire in the upscale Gail Colony area on May 29. CCTV footage captured two individuals on a moped approaching the vehicle, one of them with his face covered by a handkerchief, before pouring a flammable substance on the car and setting it ablaze. Following the incident, the model came forward and publically accused her ex-boyfriend, Mitesh Jain, of orchestrating the attack. She alleged that this act of arson was part of a prolonged campaign of harassment, threats, and abuse that has been ongoing since their relationship ended.
According to the model, she met Mitesh Jain in 2017, unaware that he was married. She claims she ended the relationship in 2018, but Jain allegedly refused to let go and began stalking and threatening her. In 2024, she filed a rape case against him. Since then, she says he has continued to blackmail and harass her and her family.
She further claimed that Jain repeatedly installed GPS tracking devices in her vehicles every two months and even attempted to set multiple cars on fire, including those belonging to her family members. She stated that a GPS device was recently found in two of her household cars as well.
The model accused Jain of issuing death threats and threatening her with an acid attack if she chose to move on. She recounted an incident where he allegedly showed up with a gun while she was with friends and tried to intimidate her. During the confrontation, the gun allegedly discharged accidentally during a struggle.

Surat police acted swiftly, arresting Mitesh Jain and his associate, Sachu Rai, within hours of the incident. They were apprehended at a hotel in Sayajigunj, Vadodara. Both men are being held in connection with the arson case, and forensic investigations are underway.
In a separate complaint filed at Althan Police Station, the model accused Jain of cyber harassment. She claims he created fake Instagram accounts to post her private photographs without consent, causing her emotional and psychological trauma.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar confirmed that both Vesu and Althan police stations are conducting thorough investigations into all allegations. CCTV footage, digital evidence, and forensic support are being used to verify claims and identify all parties involved. The case continues to unfold, drawing attention to issues of intimate partner violence, digital harassment, and personal safety in relationships that turn toxic.
