South Gujarat and Saurashtra Brace for Six Days of Intense Downpours, Red Alert in Five Districts Today

Gujarat is grappling with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Saurashtra, North, and South Gujarat, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting persistent downpours until July 11. In a fresh update, the IMD issued a Nowcast on Saturday, July 5, warning of critical weather conditions, including a red alert for five districts over the next three hours.

Red Alert for Five Districts

According to the IMD’s Nowcast, a red alert has been issued for Kutch, Patan, Morbi, Sabarkantha, and Mehsana districts from 7 PM to 10 PM on Saturday. This indicates a high risk of severe weather, urging residents to stay cautious.

Sunday’s Forecast (July 6)

The IMD has forecasted extremely heavy rainfall for Sunday in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, and Valsad, placing these districts under an orange alert. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Rajkot, Botad, Gir Somnath, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, and Dang, signaling heavy rainfall.

Monday’s Outlook (July 7)

On July 7, Navsari and Valsad remain under an orange alert for extremely heavy rain, while Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Tapi, and Dang are under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall.

Extended Forecast (July 8–11)

From July 8 to 11, the IMD predicts heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in isolated areas of Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Dang, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli districts, issuing a yellow alert for these regions.

The IMD advises residents to stay updated on weather warnings and take necessary precautions as Gujarat faces an extended period of intense rainfall.
