Shocking: Father Throws 7-Year-Old Daughter Into Canal In Kheda Over Desire For Son, Gets Arrested
Accused Threatened His Wife Of Divorce If She Informed About Incident To Anyone

A horrific incident has taken place in Kheda, in which a father threw his own daughter into a canal in front of his wife. Moreover, the man threatened his wife to not inform about the incident to anyone; if she did, he threatened to divorce her. The birth of 2 daughters was the reason of the man’s hatred, who wanted a son.
The incident took place on July 10. The man, identified as Vijay Solanki, took his wife Anjana Solanki and their elder daughter Bhumika, to a temple. After doing darshan, they were returning on a bike when Vijay stopped the bike near the Narmada canal on the Waghavat bridge in Kapadvanj.
Before his wife could understand anything, he took his 7-year-old daughter Bhumika from her hands, took her near the edge of the bridge in the pretext of showing her fish, and threw her into the canal. After this, he threatened his wife about divorcing her if she informed about the incident to anyone. After which, they returned to their home.
Meanwhile, the next day, Bhumika’s body was found from the canal. The Aatarsumba police started investigating the matter. During which, Anjanaben, due to her husband’s threats, had said in her statement that her daughter had fallen from their hands when they were showing her fish. At that time, police had registered a case of accidental death. However Anjanaben told the truth to her brothers, who encouraged her to file a complaint against her husband. Eventually, Aatarsumba police were informed and a complaint was registered against Vijay.
Vijay Solanki was arrested by police, who also admitted to having committed the crime during interrogation. Speaking on the issue, District Police Head Rajesh Gadhiya shared that the incident occurred on the night of July 10. The accused, his wife, and their elder daughter were returning from the temple.
As per their previous statements, the girl had fallen into the canal from their hands when they were standing at the bank of the canal. After which, the next day, the girl’s body was found from the waters of the canal.
Aatarsumba police had registered a case of accidental death and investigations were being conducted, he added. He further said that the police found the death suspicious and thus they interrogated the girl’s other family members.
Apparently, the cause of throwing the girl into the canal was that Vijay wanted a son, but had 2 daughters as children. He also allegedly tortured his wife after the birth of their second daughter. Further investigation in the matter is going on.
