Shocking Crime In Surat: Security Agency Owner Abducted For Ransom, Found Murdered In Two Pieces

Surat: Surat is reeling from a gruesome crime that has raised serious concerns about law and order in the city. Chandrabhan Dubey, a security agency owner, was abducted on May 12 and found murdered five days later, his body dismembered and stuffed into a sack near the Mithi Khadi area.

The case took a dark turn when Dubey’s family received a ransom demand of ₹3 crore, sent from his own phone shortly after his disappearance. Dubey was last seen leaving with a local rickshaw driver, Rashid Ansari, who has now become the prime suspect in the case.

What began as a missing person report quickly escalated into a murder investigation. According to family members, Dubey left with Rashid around 6 PM on May 12 and never returned. Rashid later claimed that Dubey got off at a junction and vanished, but has since gone into hiding, raising police suspicion. He reportedly even made a video call to the family from an unknown location, possibly outside Gujarat.

On May 16, investigators found Dubey’s mutilated body in two separate parts, wrapped and dumped in a sack. The horrific discovery led to an emotional outburst from the family, who gathered at Surat Civil Hospital, questioning the police’s handling of the case.

Nehal Dubey, the victim’s nephew, criticized the authorities for delays and alleged mismanagement. “This case should have been cracked in six hours, not five days. The police wasted precious time arguing over jurisdiction. Such negligence is unacceptable,” he told reporters.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Vijay Singh Gurjar said: “We checked footage from 500-odd CCTV cameras. One of the footage revealed that Dubey did not get into any car and remained seated in the rickshaw. Ansari took him to his home at Bhindi Bazar in the Un area. Dubey was not seen coming out of Ansari’s house. Ansari was seen leaving home on Tuesday morning with two bags, which he loaded on his moped and left. We tracked his movements to the rivulet and got it searched by fire teams, who found the two bags with the body. The remains were identified by family members.”

Dubey had been running a private security agency in Surat for over 20 years. His sudden and violent death has sparked outrage across the local business community. The Surat Crime Branch has taken over the investigation, with teams now tracking digital footprints, surveillance footage, and possible interstate leads. Meanwhile, Rashid remains missing, and police are intensifying efforts to locate and arrest all involved.
