Saurashtra University has once again become embroiled in controversy. Thousands of students are now paying the price for grave negligence by university faculty members. A recently conducted BCA Semester-5 examination has been cancelled following a major controversy.
What is the entire matter?
On November 12, Saurashtra University conducted the 50-mark theory paper for ‘Programming in Python’ in BCA Semester-5. However, after the examination, it emerged that this was not a newly prepared paper. Instead, the exact same paper that had been used in the college’s internal examination was mistakenly administered in the university’s final examination.

ABVP protest and exam cancellation decision
As soon as word spread that the internal and external papers were identical, outrage erupted among the student community. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) lodged a strong protest over the matter. After investigation confirmed that both papers were identical, the university administration immediately announced the cancellation of the examination.
Exam to be held again on November 22
Due to faculty laziness and negligence, approximately 2,200 students will now have to take the examination again. The cancelled ‘Programming in Python’ paper will be re-administered on November 22.
Indications of strict action against those responsible
Responding to the entire incident, the Dean of the Education Faculty stated that “strict action will be taken against those responsible for this incident. The guilty faculty members may even be banned for life from examination duties.”
He further added that the faculty member who set the paper is a senior professor. Their intention was not to leak the paper, but how such a major error occurred is a matter requiring investigation.
