Section 144 Imposed In Dediapada As Tensions Escalate After AAP MLA’s Arrest

Dediapada: In the wake of intensifying political unrest in Dediapada, authorities have imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, restricting public gatherings to maintain law and order. The move comes after the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava following a violent incident at a high-level administrative meeting on Saturday.

The disruption occurred during a session of the ADVT executive planning committee, held at the office of Provincial Officer D.R. Sangada. Present at the meeting were several local leaders, including MLA Chaitar Vasava, Taluka Panchayat President Sanjay Vasava, and Sagbara Panchayat President Champaben Vasava.

According to reports, tensions flared over the inclusion of Champaben Vasava in the ADVT committee. MLA Chaitar Vasava allegedly opposed her participation in a confrontational tone. When Sanjay Vasava defended Champaben’s inclusion, the situation spiraled out of control. Witnesses claim the MLA threw a mobile phone and then a glass at Sanjay, leading to chaos and property damage.

Although the meeting resumed briefly, tensions reignited, resulting in more aggressive behavior and vandalism. Sanjay Vasava later filed a police complaint against the MLA, citing threats and destruction of office property. In response, Chaitar Vasava lodged a counter-complaint. Police detained the MLA for questioning before transferring him to Rajpipla under tight security.

The incident triggered an outcry among AAP supporters, who gathered outside the Dediapada police station demanding his release. Tensions rose further when police denied entry to Chaitar Vasava’s wives, prompting heated exchanges between protesters and officers. With rising concerns over public safety, district authorities swiftly implemented Section 144, banning unlawful assemblies and protests in the area.

This is not the first time Chaitar Vasava has faced legal trouble, he has previously been arrested on charges of violent conduct. Known for advocating a separate tribal state and supporting Christian missionary activities, his actions have often stirred controversy. Police investigations are ongoing, and FIRs have been registered against both political figures involved. The situation remains tense, and authorities continue to monitor developments closely.
