Second School Attack In Ahmedabad: Student Assaulted Outside National School In Ghatlodiya

Ahmedabad: A troubling pattern of violence near educational institutions has emerged in Ahmedabad after a student was brutally attacked outside National School in the city’s upscale Ghatlodiya area, marking the second such incident following a similar assault at Seventh Day School.

The assault on the Class 10 student has triggered alarm across the western district, raising serious concerns about law and order in what is considered one of the city’s premium neighborhoods.

According to preliminary investigation, the attack was premeditated. Several youths targeted the student while he was outside the school premises, apparently to settle an old score. The motive appears rooted in a previous quarrel or dispute, with the attackers choosing to execute their plan brazenly during school hours.

The victim sustained head injuries after being struck with a metal bangle worn on the hand. He has since received medical treatment and been discharged from hospital.

Ghatlodiya police responded swiftly to the incident, rushing the injured student for medical care while launching a search operation for the assailants. Investigators are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and track down the accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the attackers, and police have deployed multiple teams to arrest all those involved.

The incident has provoked strong reactions from students and parents alike, with many expressing outrage that children are not safe even at school gates in broad daylight. Guardian groups are now demanding regular police patrolling during school opening and closing hours to prevent such attacks.

Education Minister Dr. Pradhyuman Vaja has taken serious cognizance of the matter and directed the District Education Officer to submit an immediate report. The DEO has engaged with school management to gather comprehensive details and has clarified that the youths who carried out the attack are not affiliated with National School.

The escalating menace of such elements targeting schools has become a grave concern for authorities. The case also highlights the worrying trend of aggression and hostility among young individuals, which can potentially lead to more serious criminal activity if left unchecked.
