In a shocking incident in Kalol, a rickshaw driver attacked a female Home Guard with acid. Following the incident, the injured Home Guard was immediately shifted to the hospital. The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him.
The incident is of Chhatral village of Kalol taluka. Today (July 18) morning, some Home Guards were stationed for duty of traffic regulation under Chhatral overbridge. At that time, an auto rickshaw was parked in an obstructive manner on the road. A female Home Guard instructed the rickshaw driver to park the vehicle at an appropriate place.
This trivial matter turned into an altercation as the driver started arguing with the Home Guard. Other Home Guards also reached there and took the rickshaw driver to the police station. The police counselled the driver and let him off after that. Likewise, the female Home Guard also went back to her duty.
However, the driver was not in the mood to let the matter pass just like that. He decided to take action on his own, in a lethal way. After about half an hour, he returned at the spot with a bottle of acid, where the Home Guard was on her duty. Without any warning, he attacked her with acid. After which, he fled from the spot.
Other Home Guards and police officials reached there upon learning about the incident. The victim was rushed to the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for treatment. She suffered injuries on her face, hands, shoulders, and neck due to the acid attack.
On the other hand, police registered a case and started investigations. The accused, identified as Ashok Rawat, has been arrested. Such cases raise concerns about the safety of on-duty workers and staff members. This incident has also created an atmosphere of fear among the police workers.
