Relatives Queue Of Victims For DNA Tests After Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Reports Expected In 3 Days, Helpline Numbers Released

Ahmedabad: A tragic plane crash involving an Air India Boeing 171 aircraft occurred within the IGP compound in Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad. Injured individuals and deceased victims are being transported to local hospitals, where chaos and emotional distress prevail. Ambulances continue to bring body bags to the postmortem room at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Gujarat Health Department has set up a special facility at BJ Medical College’s testing center within the Civil Hospital to collect DNA samples from the relatives of the victims. According to Health Additional Chief Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi, the testing is essential for identifying the deceased.
DNA samples are being taken from the closest family members, primarily parents or children of the deceased. Reports from these tests are expected to be available within three days, and will be issued by the hospital’s trauma center.
Authorities have requested that family members come forward promptly to provide blood samples for identification. As of now, 50 injured survivors are receiving treatment at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
