 Red Alert Issued in 11 Gujarat Districts as Torrential Rain Hits Dwarka; Temple Flag Flown at Half-Mast

Gujarat is grappling with intense rainfall across multiple regions, including Saurashtra, South, and Central Gujarat, as heavy to extremely heavy downpours continue. According to reports, from 6 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, June 28, 164 talukas across the state recorded rainfall. The heaviest showers were reported in Jambughoda (Panchmahal) and Devbhumi Dwarka, each receiving 2.40 inches of rain. In response to the torrential rains in Dwarka, the revered Dwarka Jagat Mandir hoisted its flag at half-mast. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Nowcast, declaring a red alert for 11 districts for the next three hours.

Red Alert for 11 Districts

The IMD’s Nowcast, covering the period from 4 PM to 7 PM on June 28, has issued a red alert for Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Anand, Morbi, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Bharuch, Narmada, Devbhumi Dwarka, Kutch, and Bhavnagar. These areas are expected to experience severe weather conditions during this timeframe.

Dwarka Jagat Mandir Hoists Flag at Half-Mast

Saurashtra has been hit hard by relentless rainfall, with Devbhumi Dwarka recording over 2.40 inches of rain on Saturday. The heavy downpour has triggered 20-foot-high waves and strong currents along Dwarka’s coastline. Amid these conditions, the Dwarka Jagat Mandir hoisted its flag at half-mast as a symbolic gesture.

According to the IMD’s forecast, heavy rainfall is expected to persist across most parts of Saurashtra on Saturday. An orange alert has been issued for Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, and Junagadh, while a yellow alert for heavy rain is in place for Jamnagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Anand, Bharuch, Navsari, and Valsad districts.
