Recruitment Of 800 Positions In GSECL: Candidates To Go On A Hunger Strike

Move Comes After Issue Keeps Getting Neglected

Since the government and the power companies are neglecting the issue of recruiting 800 helper posts in one of the power companies of the Gujarat government GSECL (Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited), the candidates will go on a hunger strike today, to express their protest.

Candidates told that they had earlier protested outside the head office of GSECL at Vadodara on March 3 as well. After that they had also presented their issue to the government. A letter to the Chief Minister was also written. As a result of which, the Chief Minister had assured them that the positions would be filled.

However, as GSECL has not yet made any move on the issue, the candidates have no other option than to go on a hunger strike. From April 1, more than 100 people will begin a hunger strike. The strike will go on until the candidates receive a written assurance.

According to the candidates, the examination was announced in June 2022. But still, the examination of 5500 candidates has not been conducted yet. The reason is that instead of filling these positions, the technique of outsourcing the work is being used.

From the last 20 years, helpers have not been recruited in GSECL. Due to this, the future of thousands of candidates doing apprenticeship at GSECL in the hope of getting a job is getting ruined.
