Rajkot Tragedy: 18-Month-Old Girl Dies After Swallowing Plastic Ball, Incident Highlights Parental Negligence

Rajkot: A deeply tragic incident from Rajkot has once again brought attention to the dangers of parental negligence and the urgent need for child safety awareness. An 18-month-old girl, Parthvi Tejasbhai Chavda, lost her life after accidentally swallowing a plastic ball while playing at home, a heartbreaking event that left her family in shock and the community mourning.

The incident occurred about a week ago in Rajkot’s Mavdi locality. Parthvi, the only daughter of her parents, was playing at home when she swallowed a small plastic ball. She soon began having difficulty breathing and lost consciousness. Her family immediately rushed her to a private hospital for emergency care.

Due to her critical condition, she was quickly referred to Rajkot’s hospital for advanced treatment. However, before effective treatment could be administered, doctors pronounced her dead, leaving the family devastated.

Hospital staff notified the local police, and officers from the Rajkot Taluka Police Station arrived promptly at the hospital to initiate standard procedures. According to preliminary investigations, Parthvi’s father works in a factory, and the child was known to be dearly loved by her parents.

This is not an isolated incident. Across Rajkot and the state of Gujarat, multiple cases have emerged where toddlers have died due to small, preventable household hazards. often linked to a lack of adult supervision or awareness. These tragic events underline the need for greater vigilance among parents, especially when it comes to toys and objects that pose choking risks.

This incident stands as a warning, a red light, urging parents and caregivers everywhere to prioritize child safety before it’s too late.
