Rajkot ST Division To Run Extra 50 Buses From July 25 For Shravan Month

Rajkot: The holy month of Shravan will begin on July 25, and large crowds of devotees are expected to visit religious sites across the state. To ensure safe and affordable travel, the Rajkot ST Division has announced that 50 extra ST (State Transport) buses will be deployed during this period.
Currently, around 513 buses operate across 9 depots in Rajkot, Morbi, and Surendranagar districts, serving more than 25,000 passengers daily. With the added buses, about 2,500 more passengers will benefit daily, especially those traveling to key religious destinations like Somnath, Dwarka, and Ghela Somnath during Shravan and the Janmashtami festival.
According to J.B. Kalotra, Divisional Director of Rajkot ST, additional buses will run from Rajkot to major spiritual destinations, including Somnath, Dwarka, and Ghela Somnath, starting July 25. Special buses will be arranged on Mondays during Shravan for Somnath, and more buses will also run to Dwarka around Janmashtami.
Daily Bus Allocation by Route (From Rajkot):
Dwarka: 20 buses
Somnath: 15 buses
Ahmedabad: 10 buses
Ghela Somnath: 5 buses
Total: 50 extra buses
Passengers can book tickets in advance, up to 60 days ahead, through the GSRTC website (www.gsrtc.in) or the GSRTC mobile app. This allows devotees to secure travel plans during the busy festival season well in advance.
The extra buses will operate not just from Rajkot, but also from Morbi, Jasdan, Gondal, and Surendranagar, all under the jurisdiction of the Rajkot ST Division. This expansion aims to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Shravan month. Devotees planning pilgrimages during this auspicious period can now travel more conveniently and economically using Gujarat’s ST bus services.
