6-year-old Girl Brutally Assaulted In Rajkot District, Accused Inserts Sharp Object Into Private Parts In Attempted Rape
Rajkot: Shock and outrage have gripped Atkot in Jasdan after a crime reminiscent of the Nirbhaya case. A six-year-old girl from a labourer’s family was allegedly targeted by an unidentified man who attempted to rape her. Crossing all limits of brutality, the accused reportedly inserted a sharp object into the child’s private parts, causing severe injuries. Given her critical condition, the family rushed her to Rajkot’s Civil (Janana) Hospital. Taking serious note of the incident, police registered an offence and arrested the accused within a few days.
The thought of what the six-year-old endured is spine-chilling. The incident took place on 4 December, when a migrant labourer family from Dahod district was working in the fields. Their six-year-and-eight-month-old daughter was nearby, playing and laughing. During this time, a predator allegedly noticed the child, picked her up, and took her away. He then reportedly attempted to rape her with extreme violence. When the girl started screaming, the accused is said to have smothered her mouth and then pushed an iron rod or similar sharp object into her private parts, leaving her writhing in pain before fleeing the spot.
The child was later found in a pool of blood. When the family realised she was missing from the field, they began searching for her and soon discovered her lying nearby in a grievously injured state. She is currently undergoing treatment at Janana Hospital in Rajkot. On the other side, as soon as the complaint was lodged, the Rajkot rural police swung into action. Around 10 teams were formed to trace the culprit, and an intensive investigation was launched.
Accused arrested, father of three
According to Rajkot Rural SP Vijay Singh Gurjar, police interrogated around 100 suspects. Later, about 10 shortlisted suspects were brought before the child in the presence of child experts. During this identification process, the girl pointed out the main accused, 30-year-old Ramsingh Tersing, leading to his arrest. The accused is a resident of Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh and is the father of three children – one daughter and two sons.
