Rajkot, Bhuj, Jamnagar Airports Closed; Gujarat On Alert Following India’s Operation Sindoor

Ahmedabad: Following India’s airstrikes on terror infrastructures in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, heightened security measures have been put in place across Gujarat. Civilian flight operations have been suspended at key airports, and vigilance has been intensified near the Indo-Pak border.

As a precaution, Rajkot International Airport will remain closed for three days, while civilian access to Bhuj and Jamnagar airports has also been restricted until further notice. All flights to and from Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Rajkot have been cancelled at Ahmedabad Airport.

Security forces have also stepped up checking in areas near the international border, particularly in the Kutch district, where Bhuj Airport has been shut to the public as part of the enhanced security protocol.

Air India has announced the cancellation of all flights arriving from northern destinations — including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, and Chandigarh — until 12 noon on May 7. SpiceJet has also temporarily suspended flights to and from Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar in response to the current situation.

IndiGo posted on X (formerly Twitter) that its flight operations to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala have been impacted due to changes in airspace conditions.

The escalation following Operation Sindoor has prompted full alert at military bases and along the Gujarat border, particularly in Kutch. Several flights operated by Air India between Rajkot, Bhuj, and Jamnagar have been cancelled. Security forces remain on high alert across the region.
