After a long time of humid conditions, rains have finally started occurring in Amreli city and district. Starting from early morning, rainfall of 66 mm in Rajula, 58 mm in Savarkundla, 37 mm in Khambha, 35 mm in Lilia, 31 mm in Jafrabad, 20 mm in Bagsara, and 17 mm in Amreli has been recorded from 6 AM to 2 PM.
Several parts of Amreli received heavy rainfall. Owing to which, many rivers overflowed, and a number of dams also got flooded. Meanwhile, an ST bus got stuck in water in Bhorigada village of Lilia. The passengers in the bus got in panic as the bus got stuck due to the heavy flow of water.
Luckily, all the passengers were rescued and no casualties were reported. Apparently, a causeway is being built in the village, due to which a diversion was created. This diversion got filled with water due to heavy rains, which resulted in the bus getting stuck. While in some parts, water flowed out onto roads and highways, in other places trees collapsed on vehicles. Such incidents caused traffic jams for some time.

Several parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat have been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for the past two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that this weather pattern will intensify over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in various parts of the state, particularly in coastal areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra.
Looking ahead to June 17, the IMD anticipates further heavy to very heavy rainfall in districts such as Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, as well as in Amreli and Bhavnagar. Heavy showers are also forecast for regions including Sabarkantha, Amreli, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Rajkot, Junagadh, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu.
The impact of this weather has already begun to affect daily life. Since early morning, heavy rains have lashed Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Junagadh, causing several rivers to overflow and flooding low-lying villages. Local life has been disrupted in many areas due to waterlogging. Water has also flown into the homes in some villages, causing difficulty for the residents.
