Junagadh: A serious case of alleged sexual abuse has surfaced at a private educational institution in Bhesan, Junagadh district, where the school’s principal and a Sanskrit teacher are accused of exploiting over 25 students.
The matter came to light during a parent-teacher meeting, where several students disclosed that they were called late at night and subjected to inappropriate and abusive behavior. Some students claimed they were forced to undress, while others described repeated incidents of sexual misconduct.
Following the revelations, the school administration removed both the principal and the teacher from duty. Police have detained the accused for questioning, though a formal First Information Report (FIR) is yet to be filed. Parents, while visibly distressed, have so far refrained from registering official complaints, reportedly awaiting collective legal action.
Child Protection Unit legal officer Kiranben Ramani visited the school for an on-ground investigation. “This incident is deeply troubling and reflects a failure of institutional responsibility. If the allegations are proven, strict action will be taken under the POCSO Act,” she said.
Medical examinations of affected students are underway. Authorities confirmed that if sufficient evidence is found, a case will be filed regardless of parental involvement. The Child Welfare Officer may be named as the complainant if needed.
Local residents and child rights activists have expressed outrage, demanding a thorough and transparent investigation. The case has sparked widespread concern about student safety and the accountability of educational institutions. The investigation is ongoing.
