PM Modi To Virtually Launch 5 Newly Redeveloped Railway Stations In Vadodara Division Tomorrow

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate five redeveloped railway stations under the Western Railway’s Vadodara division. These upgrades are part of the nationwide Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), which aims to transform passenger experience while embracing regional heritage.

The stations, Dakor, Karamsad, Derol, Kosamba, and Utran, have undergone a significant facelift, combining modern amenities with local cultural elements to create a more inclusive and aesthetic transit environment. These five stations are among nearly 100 across India being launched under ABSS, a scheme introduced two years ago to turn railway stations into well-integrated hubs of culture, comfort, and convenience.

Each of the revamped stations of Gujarat tells its own story. Dakor Station, a popular stop for pilgrims heading to the sacred Shree Ranchhodrai Temple, now features design elements that support religious tourism.

Karamsad Station pays homage to one of India’s most revered leaders, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who grew up in the town. The station now includes a specially designed tribute wall and traditional architectural flourishes inspired by Patel’s legacy. Further down the line, Derol Station stands out with temple-inspired design, echoing the cultural roots of the nearby Pavagadh region. Intricate arches and decorative motifs reflect the area’s spiritual heritage.

In contrast, Utran Station has been designed with a contemporary urban outlook, catering to the rapidly growing suburbs of Surat. With a focus on daily commuting and connectivity, the station offers smooth access, upgraded platforms, and accessibility-friendly features. While Kosamba Station may not boast distinctive thematic elements, it too has been brought up to modern standards with improved passenger amenities and sustainable features.

According to a senior official, all upgraded stations now feature waiting lounges, accessible pathways, better security systems, digital displays, and sustainable solutions like rainwater harvesting and green landscaping.
