PM Modi Inaugurates 18 Redeveloped Railway Stations In Gujarat Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated 103 upgraded railway stations across India, including 18 in Gujarat, as part of the ongoing Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The virtual ceremony was conducted from Bikaner, Rajasthan. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attended the local inauguration ceremony at Limbdi railway station, one of the 18 Gujarat stations included in this phase of redevelopment. He arrived at the venue via helicopter and was welcomed by local officials and dignitaries.

The revamped Gujarat stations are: Dakor, Karamsad, Samakhiali, Limbdi, Morbi, Jamjodhpur, Jamwanthali, Hapa, Sihor, Palitana, Rajula, Mahuva, Okha, Mithapur, Utran, Kosamba, Derol, and Kanalus. The projects were completed at a combined cost exceeding ₹160 crore.

Designed to enhance passenger experience while reflecting regional art and culture, the upgraded stations feature modern facilities including grand entryways, high-mast lighting, spacious waiting halls, advanced ticket counters, accessible restrooms, ramps for persons with disabilities, improved platform shelters, and digital passenger information systems.

The Amrit Bharat scheme aims to redevelop over 1,300 stations nationwide, transforming them into modern, inclusive, and sustainable urban transport hubs. Gandhinagar Capital station was Gujarat’s first to be upgraded under this initiative in 2021 and now includes a five-star hotel and other state-of-the-art amenities. Officials emphasized that the new stations are designed to serve not just as transit points, but as integrated public spaces that reflect local identity while improving service standards.
