Panic In Bharuch After Fake Bomb Threat At BAPS Swaminarayan Temple; Man Arrested For Hoax Call

Bharuch: A wave of fear swept through Bharuch late at night after a bomb threat was reported for the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple. The call, made twice to the city’s police control room, triggered an immediate high-level response from law enforcement.

According to police sources, the call claimed that four individuals were preparing to carry out a blast at the temple. Special Operations Group (SOG) officers, accompanied by the bomb squad, conducted a thorough search of the temple premises but found nothing suspicious.

Surveillance and mobile tracing led the police to a man near Bharuch railway station, who was later identified as Tosif Adam Patel. During interrogation, Patel confessed to making the false bomb threat. His motive was a personal vendetta, he wanted the police to take action against his own brothers due to an ongoing family dispute, as per the reports.

The police have filed charges against Patel under IPC Sections 217 and 353(2), which pertain to providing false information with the intent to mislead government officials and cause disruption. The hoax not only wasted vital police resources but also induced unnecessary panic in the community.

In light of heightened security concerns due to regional tensions, Bharuch Superintendent of Police Mayur Chavda emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to fake or provocative information. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt public peace with false claims.
