Ahmedabad: The visuals and accounts emerging from the horrific Pahalgam terror attack have left the nation shaken. A high alert has been issued across the country. Gujarat, too, has been placed on alert, with state police and security agencies intensifying security and surveillance efforts to prevent any potential incidents during this sensitive period.
Police presence has been reinforced at major religious sites including Somnath, Dwarka, Ambaji, Pavagadh, and others. Special focus is being given to Somnath and Dwarka due to their coastal location. All three armed units of Gujarat have been instructed to remain on active alert.
Since Gujarat shares an international border with Pakistan and has historically been a sensitive region, additional measures are being implemented to strengthen security further. Banaskantha SP Makwana confirmed that a Special Operations Group (SOG) team and a sniper unit have been deployed at Ambaji temple. The temple, located in a district bordering Pakistan, draws large numbers of tourists and is considered a critical security location.
Police have also ramped up checking and patrolling across the state. Surveillance efforts have been intensified, with special attention to suspicious individuals. Extra police teams have been stationed not only at border areas but also at other sensitive locations. Vehicles on the move are being stopped and checked as part of this increased vigilance.
