Overbridge To Be Constructed From Vishala Circle To Sarkhej Chowkdi

Construction To Be Completed By 2027

The construction of an overbridge from Ahmedabad’s APMC Market, Vishala Circle to Sarkhej Chowkdi will increase connectivity between South Gujarat and Saurashtra. On March 11, cost of Rs.1295.39 crores was approved for the construction of the overbridge.

The state minister of Roads and Buildings department, Jagdish Vishwakarma informed that the construction work of the bridge will be completed by the year 2027.

Apparently, the national highway is being used due to local traffic on the Vishala-Sarkhej highway. This in turn has resulted in the problem of external traffic on the highway. The overbridge is aimed to reduce this problem.

The Vishala to Sarkhej highway will have a total of 16 lanes, with a six-lane elevated corridor, and five-lane elevated roads on both sides, making it the first of its kind in Gujarat.

The need for overbridges and multi-lane roads and highways is being realized now, as traffic-related congestion is increasing day by day.

Another such step towards this situation is the recently announced six-lane bridge which will be constructed over the Sabarmati River at the cost of Rs.367 crores. This bridge will connect the western and eastern parts of Ahmedabad. The bridge is also combined with a rubber barrage which will control the water flow efficiently. It will also have a storage function.

The bridge connects Chimanbhai Patel bridge to the main road that leads to Kalol. It will also establish connectivity to the bullet train station and Torrent Power.

The project is estimated to be completed by April 2027.

Such projects make transport and connectivity easier for commuters and also help in the regulation of traffic.
