Rajkot: A disturbing incident from Rajkot’s Gokuldham Awas Yojna has gone viral on social media, showing a woman apparently attempting to throw her young son off the terrace of their building. The video, widely circulated online, triggered outrage and concern among viewers.
According to reports, the event occurred around 7:30 PM on Monday evening. The woman, allegedly upset following a dispute with neighbors, took her son to the terrace and was seen dangling him over the edge. Alarmed bystanders began shouting, prompting the child’s father to rush to the scene. He intervened just in time, pulling the child to safety after a brief struggle with the mother.
The woman was taken into custody by Malaviyanagar police, where she provided a statement claiming she had no intention to harm her child and only meant to scare him. Police are currently investigating the truth behind her claims and whether her actions were influenced by the earlier neighborhood quarrel.
The landlord of the family, Shardaben, stated that the couple had been tenants for a year and had never previously shown signs of serious domestic issues. However, following the incident, she has asked the family to vacate the premises by the evening.
Eyewitness Jayeshbhai, who observed the event unfold, said, “She suddenly brought the child to the terrace and began dangling him. Despite our shouts, she didn’t respond. Her husband arrived quickly and managed to rescue the child.”
Later, the parents clarified their side of the story in a brief interaction with local media. They claimed the incident had been misunderstood and sensationalized. According to them, the child had thrown a lemon from the terrace in mischief, which hit a neighbor, sparking the dispute. In an effort to discipline and scare the child, the mother pretended to threaten him, without intending any real harm.
They also alleged that the video was recorded and spread online by an unknown person with malicious intent, damaging their reputation. The parents appealed to authorities for strict action against individuals misusing social media to defame innocent families. However, police investigations are ongoing to verify all aspects of the incident and determine whether any criminal intent was involved.
