
Banaskantha: A tremor of 3.4 magnitude struck north Gujarat in the early hours of Saturday, May 3, according to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). The tremor was recorded at 3:35 AM, with its epicentre near Vav town in Banaskantha district.
The quake, which occurred at a depth of 4.9 kilometers below the surface, caused residents in the affected area to briefly evacuate their homes as a precaution. However, no casualties or property damage have been reported, officials confirmed.
Local authorities stated that the tremor was mild in intensity and did not disrupt normal life. The epicentre is located approximately 27 kilometers from Gandhinagar, Gujarat’s capital.
Gujarat is categorized as a high-risk seismic zone, having experienced nine major earthquakes over the past two centuries, according to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).
