Once again, anti-social elements have created an atmosphere of terror in Ahmedabad, this time in Ghodasar. A mobile phone merchant was standing with his friends, when a group of people suddenly came and attacked him with sticks.
The incident took place near Punitnagar railway crossing in Ghodasar. The man, who runs a mobile phone shop in Ghodasar, was standing with his friends. At that time, 8 to 10 people came on bikes and started beating the man with sticks and bats. Some of them even came running towards the man. As the mob was beating the man, his friends tried to intervene and save him. But the mob started attacking them as well. The man fell down due to the constant beating; the mob hit the man on his head and feet as well.

Moreover, the local people, who came in between to stop the commotion, were also beaten by the miscreants. It is being speculated that the mob attacked the mobile phone merchant due to money-related issues, and were also demanding money from him.

As per the merchant, as many as 15 people allegedly beat him with sticks when he refused to give them money. The merchant has been identified as Kamlesh Samat, and has been shifted to the hospital due to being badly injured. The entire incident got captured in a CCTV camera. Vatva GIDC police have registered a case against the anti-social elements and have started investigating the matter.
This incident has left the local people in fear and apprehension. The city is witnessing rising number of cases where anti-social elements create terror among the citizens and cause chaos publicly. A few months ago, in Vastral, a similar incident took place, where such anti-social elements and miscreants engaged in vandalism and gang fights. It is high time now that the administration adopt a stricter stance on this issue, as citizens’ safety is on stake.
