Jamnagar PGVCL Team Conducts Surprise Check In Resort

An astonishing case has come to light in Jamnagar, where electricity theft of around Rs 24,00,000 has been detected from a resort. Apparently, a checking drive was conducted by the Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) of Jamnagar. During which, this incident of theft was discovered when the PGVCL team reached a resort in the Shivrajpur area of Devbhoomi Dwarka district.

The Jamnagar PGVCL team, on May 26, had conducted a surprise check at the Yuvika Resort of the Shivrajpur district in Devbhoomi Dwarka, where an electricity theft worth a whopping amount of Rs 24,80,000 was discovered.

It was further found out that the resort managers had been illegally obtaining electricity by connecting electric wires directly from the PGVCL electric poles. The PGVCL team seized electric wires of 15 meters, along with other items including an electricity meter. In addition, a complaint of theft has been filed against the resort manager Pethaba Sangabha Nayani, at the Vij Police Station. The accused has also been fined of Rs 24,80,603 as compensation for the theft.

Electricity theft has started becoming a widespread issue, calling for urgent need of intervention by the government. Measures such as regular and surprise checks help in discovering such thefts and illegal activities.
