Leopard Creates Panic In Amodra Village In Una, Attacks Farmer Inside Home

Una: Early this morning, a leopard caused panic in the village of Amodra, located in Una Taluka, when it wandered into a residential area and attacked a 50-year-old farmer inside his home. Forest officials responded swiftly, managing to tranquilize the animal and safely capture it.

The terrifying incident unfolded around 5:15 AM when Dakshaben, the wife of the victim, Rameshbhai, opened the gate to their verandah. Out of nowhere, a leopard lunged at her. She managed to escape and ran into the inner part of the house, shouting for help.

Hearing her screams, Rameshbhai grabbed a stick and rushed to her aid. In the chaos, the leopard slipped into the house through a rear window leading to the kitchen. As Rameshbhai tried to fend it off, the animal attacked him, leaving him with serious injuries.

He was later rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is stable, though he has suffered deep wounds, particularly to his arms. After the attack, the leopard remained in the house, eventually settling in a corner of the kitchen. Local residents quickly informed forest officials, who arrived with a tranquilizer gun. The animal initially resisted sedation and even moved toward a refrigerator, prompting another round of darting.

Eventually, officials managed to subdue the leopard and safely cage it, ending the hours-long ordeal. A large crowd of villagers had gathered outside the home during the rescue.

Recalling the harrowing experience, Dakshaben said, “I had just returned from the bathroom and saw the leopard in our front yard. I ran, but it chased me all the way to the veranda. My husband came running to save me, and that’s when the leopard attacked him through the kitchen window.”

Residents say this is not an isolated incident. Dilipbhai, a local villager, said, “Our area sees frequent movement of wild animals, not just leopards, but even lions. We’ve raised concerns with the forest department several times, but little action has been taken.”

The incident has once again highlighted the growing human-wildlife conflict in the region, with locals demanding stronger preventive measures and quicker responses to such threats.
