Gunfire Targeting BJP Leader in Panchmahal: Mittal Patel Survives Assassination Attempt

Panchmahal: An alarming incident took place in Ranjitnagar village of Ghoghamba taluka, Panchmahal district, where Mittal Patel, the Deputy Sarpanch of the village and President of the BJP Kisan Morcha for Ghoghamba, was targeted in a gun attack by two unidentified individuals. Fortunately, Patel narrowly escaped death as the bullet missed him, grazing past without causing any serious injury.

The attack occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 15. According to eyewitnesses, Mittal Patel was sitting in the village square with friends when two young men approached him on a motorcycle. Pretending to ask for directions to “Chelawada,” one of the assailants suddenly pointed a gun at Patel’s head and fired. The gunshot sent shockwaves through the village, creating an atmosphere of panic and fear.

Patel emerged unharmed from the attempt, and the attackers fled the scene immediately. The incident has sparked tension and fear among residents and political circles in the region.

Local police officials, including senior personnel from the Panchmahal district, arrived at the scene promptly after receiving reports. A formal complaint has been filed, and the investigation is underway.

Initial reports suggest the attackers were aged between 20 and 25 and had covered their faces with masks, making identification difficult. While the motive behind the attack is still unclear, police suspect it may be linked to an old rivalry or personal enmity.

Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from Ranjitnagar and nearby areas to trace the movements of the suspects. Special investigative teams have been formed to apprehend those responsible. As of now, no arrests have been made, but efforts are ongoing to track down the assailants.

This brazen attack has stirred unease across the region and raised concerns over the safety of local political leaders.
