Ahmedabad : Gujarat’s first funicular coach system project is being built on the holy pilgrimage site Chotila Dungar. With this ride, devotees will be able to reach the gate of Maa Chamunda in just five minutes. Regarding the project, Chotila Mahant Mansukhgiri said in a special conversation that it is hoped that this project will be completed by the upcoming Chaitra Navratri. The project will prove to be very beneficial for the elderly, disabled and sick devotees.
Chotila Mahant Mansukhgiri Gosai said in a interview that this funicular system will be operational in a 20-foot area near the foot of the Chotila hill, in which a funicular coach (single-coach train) will go. A total of 6 such coaches will go up and six coaches will come down, a total of 12 coaches will be operational, in which a total of six people can sit in one coach. Currently, 30 to 35% of the work of this project has been completed.
After the completion of this project, the fee for climbing the hill will be collected by the trust at Rs. 30 plus GST. Giving more details, Chotila Mahant said that after this project is operational , heavy materials including stones and all the ritual materials will be carried in this coach, which is currently carried by the people of the Dungar Trust themselves.
On this full moon day, foot processions from different parts of Gujarat come to see Mataji with their chariots. From eight days before the full moon, the National Highway and State Road from Bagodra to Chotila and from Viramgam to Chotila in North Gujarat are flooded with foot processions with chariots. At a distance of about one kilometer, camps for tea, water, sharbat, snacks and food are started by the charitable organizations and the villages coming on the road.
