Heavy Rainfall Forecast for 15 Gujarat Districts, Ahmedabad Braces for Showers

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across 15 districts in Gujarat, predicting significant downpours in the coming days. The affected areas include Valsad, Surat, Navsari, Bharuch, Tapi, and Dang in South Gujarat, as well as Kutch, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath in the Saurashtra-Kutch region. The IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rain, with isolated areas potentially experiencing extremely heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
In Ahmedabad, residents can expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall. The IMD indicates that the city’s maximum temperature will hover around 31.7°C, approximately 4.3°C below normal, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26°C, about 2.7°C above average. Light to moderate thunderstorms with lightning are also likely in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The heavy rainfall is attributed to a well-marked low-pressure system over the east-central Arabian Sea, moving northwest. This weather system is expected to influence rainfall patterns across the state, with South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch regions facing the brunt of the storms. The IMD has advised residents to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
