Gujarat Launches Online Faceless Learning License System Starting July 7

Gandhinagar: Getting a driving license in Gujarat has often been a tedious and time-consuming process. But beginning July 7, 2025, the state’s transport department is introducing a major digital overhaul aimed at simplifying the first step: obtaining a learning license.
In a move expected to benefit thousands of aspiring drivers, the Gujarat Transport Commissionerate is launching a faceless learning license system, allowing applicants to complete the entire process online, no physical visits to RTOs or government offices required.
How the New System Works
Under this new setup, applicants can take the learning license test from anywhere using a computer or laptop with a webcam. The process is Aadhaar-based e-KYC system, meaning identity verification is done instantly through OTP authentication linked to the applicant’s Aadhaar number.
To apply:
-Visit the official portal www.parivahan.gov.in
-Navigate to “Online Services” > “Driving License Related Services”
-Select the “Contactless (Faceless) Learning License” option
-Enter your Aadhaar number and verify it using the OTP sent to your linked mobile
-Complete the online test from your own device
There are no extra fees for this convenience, only the standard license application fee applies. Applicants aged over 40 or those applying for a heavy vehicle license will also need to upload Form 1A, a standard medical fitness certificate.
Not everyone may be ready to go fully digital, and the transport department has kept that in mind. Those preferring the traditional route can still apply in person at their local RTO, ARTO, ITI, or Polytechnic center, where document verification and the learning test will be conducted.
Alongside the launch of the faceless learning license system, the transport department is also planning to introduce video analytics-based testing for driving licenses in the near future. Transport Commissioner Anupam Anand confirmed that detailed guidelines for the faceless application process will soon be published on the department’s official website.
