Gujarat Increases PMAY-G Aid: Rural Families to Get Extra ₹50,000, Says Minister Raghavji Patel

In a significant move to help rural families achieve their dream of owning a home, the Gujarat government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has announced an increase in financial assistance for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this scheme aims to provide pucca houses to homeless families in rural areas.
Rural Development Minister Raghavji Patel shared details of the decision, stating that the state is committed to supporting eligible families identified through the 2011 Socio-Economic Census and the Awas Plus survey. These families, either without homes or living in kacha structures, will benefit from the enhanced aid.
Previously, PMAY-G beneficiaries received ₹1,20,000 in three installments to construct their homes. Acknowledging the rising costs of construction materials like sand, gravel, cement, and steel, as well as transportation challenges in remote areas, the state government has decided to provide an additional ₹50,000 per beneficiary. To support this initiative, ₹550 crore has been allocated in the 2025-26 budget for 1,10,000 beneficiaries, Patel added.
The revised assistance structure includes ₹30,000 at the approval stage, ₹80,000 at the plinth level, ₹50,000 at the roof-cast level, and ₹10,000 upon completion, totaling ₹1,70,000. Of this, ₹98,000 will be funded by the state government, with ₹72,000 contributed by the central government.
This additional aid will ease financial burdens for rural families, ensuring faster completion of homes without economic strain, Patel emphasized. This year alone, 11,606 beneficiaries have received over ₹58 crore under the scheme.
This forward-thinking decision aligns with Gujarat’s vision of contributing to a developed India by fostering stronger, prosperous rural communities. The enhanced support will play a key role in empowering beneficiaries to build their homes and strengthening rural infrastructure.
