Gujarat Implements Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 Across All Post Offices

Ahmedabad: Post offices across Gujarat are going digital with the full rollout of Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0) under India Post’s IT Modernization Project 2.0. APT 2.0 has now been implemented in all 8,884 post offices in the Gujarat Postal Circle, making services faster, smarter, and more convenient for the public.
The system was officially launched by Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, at the Ahmedabad GPO and Navrangpura Head Post Office. With APT 2.0, customers can now make UPI payments by scanning QR codes at post office counters, removing the need for cash for services like speed post, registered post, parcels, international mail, and money orders.
APT 2.0 also introduces:
Real-time SMS tracking from booking to delivery
OTP-based secure deliveries
GPS-enabled postmen
Photo proof of delivery
Bulk booking with self-pickup and drop services
Integrated UPI payments
A special cover was released to mark the launch, featuring a dedicated APT 2.0 stamp on all postal items to spread awareness. APT 2.0 replaces older systems like SAP and DARPAN 2.0 with a single, user-friendly digital platform, developed by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), Mysuru.
Over 26,000 postal staff in Gujarat were trained before the launch. Initially introduced in Mehsana, Rajkot, and Navsari, APT 2.0 went live across the entire Gujarat Circle on July 22. India Post plans to roll out APT 2.0 nationwide by August 2025, supporting the vision of Digital India and Cashless India. Senior officials including Chirag Mehta, Alpesh R. Shah, P.J. Solanki, S.K. Verma, and IPPB Regional Head Abhijeet Jibhkate attended the launch event in Ahmedabad.
