Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Transport Department will implement its new ‘Faceless Learning License’ service starting Monday, July 7, 2025. This initiative allows applicants to complete their driving theory test online via laptop from home, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
According to the Office of the State Transport Commissioner, the process has been streamlined for convenience. Applicants can utilize the Aadhaar-based eKYC contactless (“Faceless”) service for seamless license acquisition. The system aims to simplify procedures amid rising vehicle registrations and license applications across the state.

Applicants preferring traditional methods must still visit designated offices – including ATOs, ARTOs, ITIs, and Polytechnic institutes – for document verification and in-person testing.
This home-based learning license system was initially proposed last year. An expert panel submitted recommendations in December 2024 to develop the current contactless framework.
