The country is witnessing rising number of corona virus cases day by day. In Gujarat, the cases are increasing rapidly in different parts of the state. Amid these conditions, a newborn baby has been tested covid positive in Ahmedabad. Apparently, the baby’s mother was tested positive at the time of its birth. After the baby’s birth, the mother’s report tested negative. The baby has been admitted in the NICU due to low weight.
As of Ahmedabad, 2 covid positive patients are undergoing treatment at the Sola Civil Hospital, in which one is the newborn baby and other is a 23-year-old woman; both of them are under observation. On the other hand, an 8-month-old baby has been tested positive at the Asarwa Civil Hospital. Apart from that, 2 other patients (a 44-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman) are also undergoing treatment there for the same. Thus, a total of 5 patients are receiving treatment for covid in Ahmedabad.
Speaking on the rising number of cases across the state, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel in a media interaction said that there is no need to panic by the rising cases, but undertaking precautions is important. He said that they are in contact with the central government, but since the variant is not dangerous and the situation is controllable, SOP has not been made as of now. If one notices any symptoms, then for the safety of others and to prevent infection, one should isolate oneself, he added.
He further said that if there are symptoms then medical check-up should be done immediately. This is an Omicron variant, and is dangerous only if the illness reaches to an advanced stage. If treatment is received immediately, then it is just like a simple pneumonia. In India, 2 variants have been found. As of Gujarat, there might be the sub-variants of Omicron- LF.7 and NB.1.8.1.
In Rajkot, 8 more cases of corona virus have been reported, taking the total number of cases to 24. In the last 3 days, 19 new cases were reported. This rapid surge in the cases has raised concern in the health department, which has fastened its proceedings in controlling the situation. Citizens have also been appealed to follow the precautions properly.
The Rajkot Municipality is on alert mode and is ensuring proper supervision. People are being traced and tested, patients in home isolation are being watched over, and hospitals are also fully equipped with beds and medical supplies. From the 24 reported cases, 23 are in home isolation.
