Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Orders Strict Action Against Officials in Mujpur-Gambhira Bridge Collapse

In a swift response to the tragic collapse of the Mujpur-Gambhira bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken decisive action, suspending four officials from the Roads and Buildings Department. The suspended officials include Executive Engineer N.M. Nayakawala, Deputy Executive Engineers Y.C. Patel and R.T. Patel, and Assistant Engineer J.V. Shah, effective immediately.
Following the incident, CM Patel directed authorities to conduct a thorough, high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. Since the news broke yesterday, the Chief Minister has been in constant contact with the Roads and Buildings Department and district collectors, guiding rescue and relief operations.
A team of experts has been tasked with preparing a detailed report on the bridge’s history, including past repairs, inspections, and quality checks. Based on the team’s preliminary findings after visiting the site, the aforementioned officials were held accountable for the incident, leading to their immediate suspension.
Additionally, prioritizing public safety, CM Patel has ordered an urgent and comprehensive inspection of all other bridges across the state to prevent similar incidents in the future.
