As part of the Census 2027 practice, Gujarat launched its self-enumeration campaign on 17th May 2026. As of 30th May 2026, over 3.74 lakh citizens in Gujarat have enrolled through this process. Out of these, more than 3.30 lakh applications have been successfully processed, while another 44,000 forms are under review.
The Census exercise will cover all the districts, municipal corporations, municipalities, and villages across Gujarat. A total of 1,10,598 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) has been identified for the operation.
To ensure a smooth run, listers, officials, and supervisors have been trained in three phases, and a massive strength of 1,09,038 enumerators and 18,254 supervisors will be employed in this procedure.
The remarkable self-enumeration program allowed the citizens to fill out the details on their own online, and those who have successfully submitted their details won’t experience a physical visit of enumerator at their homes. The Directorate of Census Operations promised to keep the information entirely confidential, and there won’t be any other use of the data collected.

The census process indicates our development and also suggests several improvements in various stretches. It will be a revolutionary action if Census 2027 turns out to be a success without any failures with the introduction of technology in the method.
