Gujarat Braces For 2–3°C Rise In Temperature, Heatwave Grips Several Cities

The Gujarat weather department has predicted that temperatures across the state will rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming days. On Monday, seven cities in the state already experienced heatwave-like conditions, with temperatures soaring beyond 40°C. Among them, Rajkot remained the hottest city for the second consecutive day, recording a maximum of 42°C.

Talking about this year’s trend, Rajkot has been hotter than Ahmedabad for most of April. In the first 20 days of the month, Rajkot recorded higher temperatures than Ahmedabad on 19 days. From April 1 to April 20, Rajkot consistently reported maximum temperatures above 40°C. The highest was recorded on April 9, when the mercury hit 45.2°C. In comparison, Ahmedabad’s highest temperature during the same period was 43.3°C, recorded on April 10.

Regarding the weather forecast for today and tomorrow, the department stated that no major change is expected in the weather today, but starting today, maximum temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, pushing the mercury to around 42°C in most cities. From today until April 25, Saurashtra and Kutch regions are also expected to experience maximum temperatures ranging between 40°C and 43°C. In the next three days, coastal areas will likely face hot and humid conditions.
