Gujarat Bomb Threat Accused Rene Joshilda Granted Bail In 3 Cases; To Remain In Jail As 3 Other Cases Pending

Accused Had Also Scuffled With Police While In Custody

In a recent development in the case of a series of bomb threat e-mails that were sent to different places including the Gujarat High Court and schools in the Bopal and Sarkhej areas, the court has granted bail to the accused Rene Joshilda in three cases registered against her. In spite of this, she will remain imprisoned as still 3 cases are pending against her.

Joshilda was arrested from Chennai for being accused of sending hoax bomb threats at places including the Gujarat High Court, Narendra Modi stadium, BJ Medical College, among other places.

While in custody, she had scuffled with the police, which resulted in another case being registered against her. In the cases of threatening to put bomb at Narendra Modi stadium, threatening to put bomb at the BJ Medical College, and engaging in a scuffle with the police, Joshilda has been granted bail. However, 3 other cases are still pending against her; hence, she will remain in jail until the proceedings of the same take place.

In the Bopal school bomb threat case, the Magistrate Court had rejected the bail of the accused, leading her to file an application at the Sessions Court. On the other hand, in the cases of Sarkhej school bomb threat and High Court bomb threat, a bail application is yet to be filed.

Lawyers of both the sides had made appropriate arguments in the court during the hearing. The court, hearing both the sides, rejected the bail plea of the accused. In addition, the accused was sent to judicial custody. As per police, Joshilda was in a one-sided love affair with a married man who worked in her company. In order to defame him and execute his divorce, she did such an act.
