Gujarat Battles Scorching Heatwave: Ahmedabad Hits 43°C, IMD Alerts Issued

As April unfolds, Gujarat faces an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring past 40°C in several cities. On Sunday, Surendranagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 44.2°C, maintaining its position as the hottest city. Ahmedabad also experienced sweltering conditions, with the mercury reaching 43°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for multiple districts. Kutch remains under a red alert for the third consecutive day due to extreme heat. Meanwhile, orange alerts have been declared for Porbandar, Rajkot, and Morbi, while Banaskantha, Surendranagar, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, and Gandhinagar are under yellow alerts.

On Sunday, temperatures exceeded 40°C in 11 cities across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad. Vadodara recorded a high of 41.8°C, causing tar on roads to melt and leaving residents struggling to cope with the oppressive heat.

The IMD predicts that the extreme heat will persist in the coming days, urging residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
