Ahmedabad: Major developments have emerged regarding the upcoming Budget Session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The state government has announced the dates for the Budget Session. This significant decision was taken following a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, where budget preparations and a review of state projects were conducted. Notably, the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly has also been reconstituted. State Finance Minister Kanu Desai will present the budget estimates for 2026-27.

Budget Session Schedule and Key Details
The Budget Session will commence on February 16 and continue until March 25. The session will begin with an address by the Governor. During the session, elections for the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly will also be held. The upcoming budget is also expected to witness significant legislative amendments.

What Will Be Special in This Session?
- New Bills: The government is preparing to introduce around seven new bills during this session.

- Centre-State Projects: Pending and ongoing projects of the state linked with the Central Government will be reviewed.
Budget Size: Estimated at Rs 3.90 Lakh Crore with 15% Increase
According to information from sources, Finance Minister Kanu Desai may present Gujarat’s largest-ever budget this year. A 15 percent increase may be seen this year compared to last year’s budget. It is being estimated that the state government will present a budget of Rs 3.90 lakh crore. The Finance Department has intensified all preparations in this regard.

Review in Cabinet Meeting
In the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, an in-depth discussion was held regarding current budget expenditure and new matters. The entire state’s public is now eagerly awaiting this session, which will begin in the third week of February.
